On May 2008, experts of Swedish Golf Federation took measurements of Park Course according to USGA Slope Rating system. Last January the Club has received an appropriate certificate from the Federation. This news should be particularly important for the Club’s golfers when the new season begins.

Since now on Park Course of Kiev Golf Club is an official operational golf course with par 60 for 18 holes (par 30 for 9 holes). The results golfers demonstrate in the Club’s tournaments and in social games will be aligned with the system of handicap recalculation approved by European Golf Association (EGA). It means that any member of the Club, playing in a club tournament on Park Course, where regular rules apply and Stableford system of points counting is in effect, can adjust his/her handicap. And all players that have HCP 18,5 or higher can choose to play only 9 holes and adjust their handicap.

Kiev Golf Club has all credentials to manage and recount personal handicap of its members according to EGA Handicap system. Moreover, if necessary, the Club may issue written evidence to a player that proves the exact handicap and will be legitimate in other golf clubs in Europe and America. Obviously, this approach will very likely attract golf tourists and non-residents of Ukraine, foreign golfers, who come to our country for business. However, for Ukrainian golfers «international weight» of their personal handicap, of course, is of great importance.

As it is known, measurements of golf courses according to Slope System are often taken by national golf federations. There are several objectives here: to provide integration of golfers to international sport space (the world of golf is unite!), to centralize the system of handicap recounting, to enable each player to improve on an equal footing with others, on any course, in view of its complexity. In Ukraine there is no organization which, as a member of EGA, could perform a certified measurement of golf courses. Therefore, Kiev Golf Club addressed specialists from Swedish Golf Federation (rules and standards of golf remain the same in any country), with which it cooperates closely since 2008. Goran Hermes, expert with 25 years of service in this area, lead a team of Swedish specialists.

Academic Park Course does not differ with great complexity. A player with HCP 20 should play 18 holes at Park Course at 76 strokes (par is 60 + HCP according to the slope table, i.e. 16 strokes = 76 strokes total) to reach his exact HCP level.

Detailed ratio of these variables (exact and adjusted handicap) is presented in Slope Tables, available for downloading by this link. Just as an example, the tables provide results for HCP 36 and lower. Still, Golf Reception of the Club will automatically recalculate all playing handicaps, even high, by the same scheme.
