Art Auction takes place under patronage of the Club
Kiev Golf Club will support a grandiose exhibition and auction of Ukrainian Art from the 20-21st centuries.
The event is unique by its clear and unprecedented cultural mission. The exhibition will show a whole spectrum of our contemporary art. Organizers put a really titanic effort into collecting the best works of Ukrainian artists from all over the country. These paintings have never been displayed on similar auctions. It is important that no picture was brought to the exhibition through resellers. All of them were offered by the artists or their families. And that guarantees they are original.
More than a year was given to targeted preparation for the exhibition. Materials were accumulated during 12 years in the framework of other projects and there was cooperation with leading art critics, sponsors, Embassies of Ukraine abroad. All these form an «initial price» of the project.
The exhibition will show different schools, very rich technique, plenty of genres and motives – in other words, everything that develops a fine and strong tradition of Ukrainian artistic culture. And this culture made itself already known in the world!
Yelena Yagodovskaya, the owner of «Tadzio» Gallery, is a curator of the exhibition. She is a known art critic, author of many art projects, including the recent one «Territory of Soul» in Ukrainian House, organizer of Ukrainian art exhibitions in Europe and Middle East – in Paris, Bucharest, Jordan, etc. (read the interview with Yelena Yagodovskaya in our next material).
A principle of «hunt» after buzz names was rejected at once in order to insure breadth, thoroughness and professional objectivity in works selection. As a result, an exclusive, orderly and broad collection of 137 pictures was formed. They are different but equally appealing to a fine taste, intellect and high culture of audience and collectors.
Many names among 100 exhibited artists will be undoubtedly a discovery for the majority of art connoisseurs. Still, at the opinion of Ukrainian and foreign experts, they represent «а golden stock» of European art. Among such masters there are M. Shemyakin, L. Turzhanskiy, V. Zaretskiy, L. Rapoport, V. Gordiychuk, O.Grischenko, A. Tsoy, A. Levitskiy, V. Trubchaninov and many others. There will be Ukrainian classics also: Mykhailo Deregus, Vasiliy Kasiyan, Grigoriy Gavrilenko, Ivan Krasnyi. Stanislav Petrashevskiy, whose paintings were selected for Tretyakovskaya Gallery when he was still alive; yet, now he is less known than masters living at that time. By the way, art of another participant of the exhibition, contemporary artist Igor Gubskiy, is also on display in Tretyakovskaya Gallery. Curators additionally mark out the works of Anna Samutina. This folk artist from Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskiy makes impressive collages, which are believed to be a real godsend of the exhibition. and also
Moreover, there will be surely big stirs! – such as a fine children portrait from 1920th, which very probably could belong to a brush of Kazimir Malevich. This painting of «an unknown artist» was discovered in Konotop by Nina Veligotskaya – Candidate of art history, the author of the first monograph in Ukraine about Maria Pryimatchenko. An excerpt from her study, proving that the painting belongs to Malevich, will be included into a catalogue of the exhibition.
By the way, the catalogue is designed as an independent «piece of art» in its genre. The works are placed and divided into sections «Graphics», «Paintings» and «Modern Art». It makes them match and interact in an aesthetic dialog. Standard information about works, bio reference, quotes from scientific studies add to such harmonious form.
The exhibition begins on February 14, 2009 in the House of Scientists and will be there for a week. The auction, which sums up this event, is taking place on February 21, 2009. Organizers of the exhibition will issue special invitations for participants of the auction.
